The Cup "Coppa d'Oro delle Dolomiti" exists since 1947 and is a car race where vintage cars have to run road sections in certain pre-established times.
Originally it was a race that was called "The International Cup of the Dolomites" until 1951 and was then renamed "Gold Cup of the Dolomites". At that time, the race lasted just one day and the track was always the same. The departure of Cortina d'Ampezzo led the participants on the Falzarego down into the Agordina valley towards Arabba and then into the Val di Fassa, San Martino, Belluno and finally back to Cortina. The award "Gold Cup" was won by the pilot, who in three consecutive editions achieved the best times on this route.
Today, everything is a little different ... the organization of the event is managed since 2001 by the Automobile Club of Belluno and the route of the race is always different.
The cars are now trying to win not by speed but to comply with the specified times in the various sections of the mountain roads.
The race is traditionally on the first weekend in September and is very popular for over 63 years by now.
