San Vito di Cadore
San Vito di Cadore is located at 1011m at about 11km from Cortina, in a beautiful valley surrounded by woods on the left bank of the river Boite and after Cortina d'Ampezzo it is the most important tourist resort of Val Boite and Cadore.
In a panoramic position among the famous peaks of Pelmo, Antelao and Sorapiss, it is a tourist center both in the summer and winter and it has an excellent range of hotel accommodations.

There are various opportunities for hiking, walking and mountain climbing offered by the surrounding peaks, in particular on the colossus dolomite peaks of Sorapiss and Antelao, over 3200 meters high, which dominate the region with vertical rock walls.
During the winter ski season there are fully equipped modern lifts, including two new three-seat lifts, which offer miles of ski runs, served by an efficient ski bus service.
The ski resorts are included in the vast ski area of Cortina.
The extension of the town of San Vito di Cadore reaches the edge of the Ampezzo area and in the past centuries has given rise to long disputes between the citizens of Ampezzo and those of Cadore for the definition of boundaries and ownership of pastures and woods.
In 1753 the Austrian Empire and the “Serenissima” Venetian Republic resolved the dispute by imposing the residents of San Vito to build a border wall, approximately 2 kms long, the so-called "Wall of Giau" or “Muraglia di Giau”, still visible today at the Pass Giau.
San Vito di Cadore is also an important artistic center: in the church of “pievenale”, built in 1200 and rebuilt in 1760, a painting by Francesco Vecellio, brother of the famous Tiziano is present, who here reached the pinnacle of his artistic production.
